Design and implementation of medium-voltage circuit-breakers, HD4-RG and HD4-MG models for the retrofit of the medium-voltage switchgears.
The HD4 series of medium-voltage circuit-breakers 12kV 800A 32kA for primary distribution use SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride gas) both to extinguish the electric arc and as insulating medium. That has allowed replacing the old technology consisting of oil insulation with the more modern gas-insulation. Breaking in SF6 gas allows a limited generation of overvoltages and ensures long electrical life of the circuit-breaker and installations.
