Description

We have designed, manufactured and supply Ørsted’s first large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the UK.

The project, co-located with the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm onshore infrastructure near Norwich, will be among the largest battery systems in Europe:

  • Power rating: 300 MW
  • Energy capacity: 600 MWh (≈ 2 hours nominal duration)
  • Shared grid connection with offshore wind for optimized efficiency
Our scope included 4 Medium Voltage Switchrooms 33kV, 2000A, 31.5kA(3s) and 1 Control Room, equipped with:
  • MV AIS switchgear 36kV
  • LV panels for protection and monitoring
  • Patch panels & Roxtec cabling systems
  • 4G antenna, weather station, GPS
  • Swicom
  • Fire detection system
  • HVAC
  • Human interface panels
